Their main dining room was the most beautiful eating space I've ever been.
Dinner right next to the antic fountain and exquisite chandeliers was so romantic!
Entire building(5stories) is actually High end furniture brand RH(Restoration Hardware) show room and the 1st floor has a show room, a small coffee shop and a main dining room. Coffee shop has grab-and-go doughnuts, croissants, pastries etc. You order it and free to have a seat at wherever you want.
It's pretty cool to have coffee sitting at their high-ends furniture. Every floor has its own character and concepts. You will definitely feel like 'Oh.. I wish I could live the place like this!!!'
If you are a fan of Restoration Hardware, this place is A MUST.
I wish they open in my neighborhood too
Food
****Slow roasted chicken $27
: Juicy and tasteful! You can choose side salad or fries.
***Burrata(tomatoes, garlic bread, basil) $23
: Garlic bread was too burned but Burrata was fresh ant tasty.
*****Latte : very good
Cons.
Waiting time is too long. -
As one of the 'Historical hotels of America', it is very antic outside, modern inside. This hotel was formerly the London Guarantee & Accident Building, a landmark edifice from the 1920s.
We booked a suite room with view and truly enjoyed a river view with clock tower etc.
They have a gorgeous rooftop(inside and ouside, tri-level bar) and it's not really crowded. Such a nice place to finish your day with beautiful sunset.
Bed was pretty comfortable and the spacious bathroom seems remodeled with marble lately. I liked it very much.
Breakfast- Even though we have a Hilton honors Diamond membership the breakfast was not free(It was supposed to be complimentary for Diamond membership). They give you the restaurant 'Lake&Land' vouchers $12 worth each. It is located at the 1st floor and you can have river view while enjoying your meal.
Steak was a bit chewy but it was Ok and the Salmon eggs benedict was pretty good.
Fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee were fresh too. Anyways we had to pay extra charges over $24.
Pros.
Their warm note celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary(it was not on that day though) and gift chocolate was very thoughtful.
Cons.
They don't have a swimming pool. (They only have gym). Breakfast policy was weird.17/12/2018 -
The most biggest Christmas market I've ever been in the US. There are several Christmas markets in NYC where I used to live but this one is the only one in Chicago downtown area, so it is bigger and more crowded.
*Pros
They serve hot beverages like Glue wein, Hot chocolate, Apple cinnamon($8) in really cute mugs saying 'Ich liebe dich'. And you can keep the mugs.
Lots of food options and they even have a pub inside a market. Good place to shop handmade Christmas decorations such as ornaments etc.
*Cons
Tooooo crowded. You have to wait in a long long line for every single shop to get in. -
Best place to study or work with a sip of coffee&tea.
Comparing to other places, Oasis has good price range and best quality.
Try Earl grey tea latte! Sooo good and it's only $2.91 including tax!
Brick and wood interior with very cozy ambience.
They have a small stage for musicians. Cool!
I would definitely come back for mini concert and coffee.
I only wish they turn on the jazz music for sometime,
or jazz concert would be really nice. -
All time my favorite coffee place!
Try 'Mexican mocha' and 'Carrot muffin with cream cheese icing'. You won't regret it.
Mexican mocha is sweet at the first sip and a hint of cinnamon? spicy? tastes comes next. I liked it very much.
Their latte art is pretty good!
Their employees are always happy and very attentive. -
Wow.
Much better than I was expected!!
They serve brunch menu only on weekends, not during week days.
We ordered Lunch menu.
cheese burger $15
: pretty good. not really greasy and the beef patty was really tasty. strongly recommended.
social salad bowl $9.90 (adding salmon +$8)
: you can choose your ingredients like greens, toppings, sauce and etc. But adding chicken, flank steak, salmon, shrimp, falafel is extra charge.
Adding salmon was a good idea. It was well cooked, a little bit crispy outside and juicy inside. yum!!
BUT, the price... $20 for a salad is a bit too much for this area. Next time, I might want to spend that amount of money for the other menu. -
Starbucks.
Maybe it sounds so cliche in this era of the competitive coffee industry.
BUT, this location with the 'SB reserve bar' brought me back my loyal to them.
I've been many 'SB reserve bar' in NYC, Chicago etc. but I can say that this location is the best of the best. Spacious, Clean(even rest rooms are clean), Huge fireplace, art wall, friendly baristas....
Seating right next to the fireplace gives you relaxing moments. The sofas are super comfy! And sometimes they give you free samples of new menu.
When you order at the R(reserve) bar, my recommendation is Hazelnut Bianco Latte.(Don't forget to tell your barista to make it less sweet)
P.s Use your rewards at the SB reserve bar! -
Have you ever thought about eating at a Fire department?
Here at Apparatus room, an old fire dept. HQ has been transformed into a contemporary restaurant&bar. Upstairs were also remodeled and turned into a chic hotel named 'Foundation'.
Interior was impressive with fire place and cute light bulbs, leather sofas and chairs. Outside has wide red doors. (perfet spot to take a photo)
But the food wasn't really impressive for me. Everything was too much salty nothing really special.
Four of us had brunch here,
Turkey Hash
Breakfast for two
waffle
All the menu we ordered was a bit disappointed but I would like to go back for drinks by fireplace. -
This is Sushi place but the dish blew me away was..
Nagasaki Champon !! A must try dish for this winter season.
We ordered,
Nigiri tasting $29
Nagasaki Champon spicy $14
O toro $21
Uni $10
Volcano roll $13
Fresh wasabi $2
Sushi quality: Good
Comparing to Noble Fish, Sushi Hana is more authentic and well made sushi I can say. Freshness is about same.
Interior and ambience: nothing special.
Price : Ok.(only except the market price of 'O Toro' .. 2pieces of them were over $20)
Overall, price was a bit higher than I was expected but I would definitely go back for Nagasaki Champon. -
The most beautiful and historic hotel we've ever stayed.
This hotel was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1980 and no wonder the entire hotel was like a huge museum. Historic scene every corner.
Including Queen Elizabeth, a lot of national leaders, politicians, celebrities were here.
Our room was junior suite on the royal floor. Though the price was much higher than the regular rooms on the lower floor but ours has remodeled very well and gave us perfect view. +Easy access to the Fairmont Gold lounge.
14th Floor has The Fairmont Gold lounge which only gives access to the members and VIPs. The lounge had mini bar, fire place, cozy sofas, TV, Library etc. My husband and I had a wonderful breakfasts, a selection of appetizers and hors d'oeuvers during day time.
Private concierge and cheek-in/check-out services were also available at this lounge.
ROOM REVIEW
Bathroom : Shower booth was all marble and the shower tap was incredible. It gives you shoulder and neck massage. Now I want to install the amazing shower tap to my bath room!!
cute little French door was inspiring interior idea.
Bedding : King size bed was comfy enough to both of us. Ralph Lauren style duvet cover was simple and modern.
View: Great. Overlooking the Old Quebec City, you will feel like in the middle age France or something.
The gym was not really spacious but when we were there at noon, no one was there so we felt like we own it! Their indoor pool with bright natural light was lovely.
For the last, location is awesome as well, so close to petit Champlain and river.
If you visit Quebec City, staying at this place is worth every penny.
*Cons
Hotel Parking lot is too tight so if you don't do valet, it could be tough to park.
