A born and bred New Yorker, I've lived in the same neighborhood (indeed, even the same building although we did switch apartments) since I was a child. My parents (and youngest sibling for the moment) still live there, so I am frequently around the UES, visiting some and avoiding others of the following places.

Avaliação de 5 estrelas de Zoe: One of the many many reasons I'm so grateful to live in NYC is the fact that I have easy access to the Met throughout the entire year. I love this museum so much, and hold it in such high regard, that I'm currently interning with them! The Met is HUGE, so its best to do it over several visits. But if you can't do that because you're only in New York for a short period of time, choose the galleries you're interested in the most, and definitely make special exhibits your priority (skip the modern art galleries, unless they have a special exhibit, and go to the MoMA instead). Their collections are truly amazing and of such high quality that it is a must for any visitor to NYC. If you have the energy, you could see the entire museum in one day (like Friday or Saturday when its open late), and the new cafeteria is rather good with a wide selection of rotating menus. Egyptian Art is a must for a first time visitor, and I personally love walking through the Ancient Greek and Roman Galleries on my way to the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas (my favorite gallery), but the Met encompasses so such that its hard to not find someplace to go if you are a lover of art. -
Avaliação de 5 estrelas de Zoe: To those of my acquaintences who upon comparing suburban life to an urban one bring up the issue of "nature" or "lack of a backyard," I have a single retort: CENTRAL PARK. I am lucky enough to quite literally be able to call Central Park my backyard since I live a mere two blocks from it, but all of New York (and visitors, too) can share and lay claim to this glorious, green domain. And let's be honest, its WAAAAAY better than the average suburban backyard. Trees? Check. Grass? Um, duh. Open space? ...Have you never been there?! After those three requirements for a "backyard" are met, the best a suburban home can do is spruce it up with a pool or one of those large playsets (if you're lucky, kid). Central Park offers a wide range of activities to the average visitor, from the everyday to the more special and exciting. Its a place to sunbathe or have a picnic, to toss around a frisbee or bike down the roads at speeds that could literally kill, skate in the winter at Wollman Rink, or enjoy one of many free concerts or productions on the Great Lawn or with Shakespeare in the Park. However, what I enjoy most about Central Park is the ability to just enjoy being surrounded by nature as I take a walk. Most of the time you can still notice the skyline bordering the park, but there are places where, for a brief moment, the buildings disappear from sight and the sounds of traffic give way to the birds and leaves rustled by the wind. -
Avaliação de 5 estrelas de Zoe: This is my favorite place to eat, and I'm not vegan! I drag friends there all the time, and while they start off skeptical (or horrified) of the thought of vegan dishes, they end up devouring their food and even coming back on their own. I've even had several birthday dinners there, including a birthday cake that they made for me; the owner was there that night and even came over to wish me a happy birthday! Everything is creatively made and tastes delicious - their soups are to die for and are seasonal since the menu reflects local fresh produce. The menu itself unfortunately hasn't changed, but the specials add variety. And I would eat the same meal there anyway, it all tastes so good! It truly is amazing what they can do with the dietary restrictions that go along with being vegan, especially with their desserts. You cannot end a meal there without at least sharing one of their selections. They even have a few wheat-free options. Portions are hearty (the wraps are HUGE), so I find that sharing a few dishes is the best option, and more fun anyway. And prices are very reasonable. They also have a juice/smoothie bar in the front, with a selection of baked goods so you can quickly drop by for a treat. -

Now, its not because its the most amazing NYC sushi I've ever had (Morimoto), nor is it the ambiance (not a place to take a date, unless we're talking close friends/long-term relationship who could give a damn about where they're eating so long as the food is good). Its because Sushi Suki is the best deal for sushi that I can find in my neighborhood of the UES. The place itself is small, cute but fairly stereotypically decorated for a sushi joint - its just slightly out of the way for most people since its on York Ave (thank god for delivery!). And the staff is really sweet and attentive. The sushi itself is EXACTLY what I want in my sushi - minimal use of rice and maximum amount of fish/veggies. They are not stingy when it comes to filling those rolls, and its AWESOME. My friends avocado roll had more avocado than I've ever seen - one roll looked like it had an entire avocado in it! Best of all, they offer a little customization to their rolls where you can add ($.50 each) cucumber, avocado, mango, tobiko or spicy sauce to a roll. I get to make my favorite spicy scallop roll even more tasty! They have a great selection of rolls, both standard, spicy, and chefs specials, AND considering the quality (very fresh), at really reasonable prices, especially for the area! (And their edamame is super yummy/freshly steamed) I'm obsessed! I am seriously tempted to order takeout from them every night of the week now - only my bank statements stop me from doing so. -
Avaliação de 5 estrelas de Zoe: I just tried their seasonal Pumpkin cupcake, and MmmMmm is it good! A nice subtle spiced pumpkin flavor with pumpkin spice icing; the cake is still moist and the icing creamy, sweet deliciousness, but unfortunately you have to wait for them to reach room temperature for the best experience. They also had strawberry and raspberry cupcake varieties which I haven't seen before, but the cupcakes are so big that it's hard to have more than one - and I'm not paying that much for their "mini" cupcakes that they started offering a little while ago. -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: I don't do grocery shopping here - Fairway is a far better option. But their prepared foods are to die for! Simple options like soup, sushi, salad, sandwiches/wraps, and also nicer choices like crab cakes, seared tuna, a variety of side dishes...mmmm! Their gourmet bakery/treats selection is superb, but a little pricey - you'd probably get a better deal at the source. But I still love this place for a quick drop in! -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: My favorite place to go out for sushi in my neighborhood. The quality of the sushi is really good and not ridiculously pricey like alot of the high end sushi joints on the UES. And of course there are items other than sushi for the less adventuresome or vegetarians, all of which are equally good and every dish is presented beautifully. They are almost never crowded, so its pretty easy to just walk in with a few friends, and the staff is nice and attentive. Occasionally service will get a little slow, but that's usually when the place is nearly full. Plus, the decor is subdued and intimate, a lovely space to enjoy a meal in. -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: I recently returned to Chinatown East in person (instead of ordering takeout), and was pleasantly surprised at the changes that occurred during my hiatus. My friends and I would hit up Chinatown East for our cheap and decent tasting sushi cravings, using them as a quiet hangout. My family would order takeout from them, first for their pretty good fast chinese food, then for their sushi party platters. But the interior has been updated nicely, and looks far less like the really sleazy 'chinese fast food that offers sushi to go with the recent craze' place that it used to be. They have a sushi bar now!! (And a tv that plays sports, but oh well) What's really exciting is, not only has their sushi improved dramatically, offering better quality and far more roll choices than ever before, BUT they have three different All You Can ___ choices every day from 9pm and 11pm: All You Can Drink ($12.95 with $10 food order), All You Can Eat Sushi ($25.95), and the best deal of all, the All You Can Eat AND Drink ($31.95). I'm a wee girl, so I can't do those deals easily, but my boyfriend and his friend opted for the Eat/Drink, which allows choices of ANY AND ALL ROLLS - best deal ever! They started with Sake Bombs, and probably ended up having a total of 3 of them, plus 3 glasses of beer, and only ordered from the Special Rolls list, which ended up being a ridiculously good deal for the price. It's alot of fun, but it was rather loud - the people there were all taking advantage of the deals, and one huge table started shouting as they did Sake Bomb after Sake Bomb. I enjoyed a very amusing evening. And a cheap one too! -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: My family dropped by Tenzan one evening for dinner and only just managed to get a seat before the place was full. It's a very small space, and they certainly pack their tables in, but its nicely done in light wood with low, warm lights. The music could like a little softer, but it didn't interfere with conversation too much. We weren't too hungry, so we shared edamame and each got one roll apiece (which for my dad means two, but he's a big guy). Since my younger sister has just gotten into the actual fish sushi, I suggested she try one of their special rolls, the Red Lady roll which is shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, mango and cucumber wrapped in pink soybean seaweed, and she loved it! The special rolls are huge, so you really don't need to order many of them, and you wouldn't want to considering the price. I'm having a love affair with spicy scallop, and while theirs was really good (very fresh and just spicy enough), I was hoping for maybe some cucumber or avocado in the roll instead of just the scallop. My dad had their spider roll (he loves soft shell crab) and a california roll, and my mom had their chicken negimaki appetizer. They both seemed pleased with their choices, although only my dad expressed pleasure over the spider roll. But Tenzan is a nice place for good sushi - not spectacular, but consistently good. If only the Upper East Side location was a little bigger.

Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: Land is one of my best friend's favorite Thai restaurants - she's been there enough times to have tried nearly everything on their menu (I'm serious. Everything except a few of the noodle dishes). At her suggestion, we met there tonight for dinner. The UES space is small (we ate outside because the weather was so nice), but its a lovely, dark wood modern interior with clean lines. I like it, but it seems like they try to pack in as many people as they can so it gets really crowded. It looked like people eating inside were elbow to elbow, but I didn't pay too much attention. Our food arrived almost immediately after we ordered - I had the Green Curry and substituted Tofu and Vegetables instead of Chicken (I love how they have that option! Its usually so hard to find places that offer a lot of vegetarian options, but they also allow substituting beef, chicken, lamb or shrimp instead). I also asked that they not make it too spicy since both Yelp and my friend warned me, and my dish was both delicious and pleasantly spicy for my tastes. The curry was delicious, a nice coconut milk sauce that pooled in the bowl - I'm glad they served the rice in a separate container. My friend tried their Pad Thai, and she absolutely loved it. Their dishes are proportioned perfectly so that I only needed one entree to be filled, but others with larger appetites can easily enjoy an appetizer, entree and even dessert without feeling uncomfortably full. The prices have gone up a little than those listed on their website, but its still reasonable considering the size and quality of food. And the fact that its on the UES. Its great for a nice evening out, but not for large groups. -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: Caffe Grazie quite literally is my father's favorite place to go for a meal or just a drink (he takes friends and colleagues there all the time). It could be the fact that it is only a block away from our apartment, but the food truly is delicious and I'm sure my father would travel a distance to dine there if we weren't nearby. Its an intimate space in a converted townhouse; warm, cozy, inviting. The seating can be a little cramped when it gets crowded, but most of the time you don't notice since you're so fixated on the wonderful food in front of you. Everything is prepared beautifully, both tasty and a joy to behold on the plate. I have never been disappointed by a dish, the ingredients are so fresh. I particularly enjoy their seafood selections The staff is wonderful, they are very attentive, and even more so now that my father is a regular.

Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: Mmmmm...best soup ever! I'm probably biased in my review because I spent many a free period during High School running over to Yura to get something to eat. There are so many options for lunch or a snack: either one of their great boxed lunches (the chicken or bean rolls with broccoli, bean salad and their really amazing farro and corn salad are delicious!), sandwiches, soups or prepared foods (which they can heat up for you if you want - awesome!), and quite a few baked goods like cupcakes, huge cookies, brownies, slices of cake/pie, muffins/scones (so good - and so deadly)...it could be hard to choose at times! Sometimes the people who work there are really surly, but those are mostly the ones who either work the registers or take drink orders; basically the ones who deal with the most people throughout the day. The soup/prepared foods guys are really nice and friendly. There really isn't much room to sit, and the few tables are quickly taken the moment someone makes a move to leave. Better to not even try to get one, unless its pretty empty inside. -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: Alright, I agree that il laboratorio del gelato is superior in quality - but that's not to say that Ciao Bella isn't equally wonderful. Their gelato and sorbet are rich, creamy, and made with fresh ingredients that create intense flavors. Also, Ciao Bella is a much more accessible option for quality gelato, with several locations throughout the city, and many grocery stores have started carrying their pints selection of gelato/sorbet so you can even enjoy several of their flavors at home! Its weird, I do prefer the Grand Central Terminal location instead of the one in my neighborhood because it has a far larger selection of flavors, in particular flavors that they DON'T offer in pint form. -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: My boyfriend treated me one evening this summer to their ice cream, and it was so good I went back the next night by myself! Their large selection of flavors is really incredible; creative in their conception, rich and creamy. Plus, they have non-fat and frozen yogurt versions of some of their flavors, so you can indulge with a little less guilt. The cones that are displayed in the case are beautiful AND delicious, a perfect compliment to the ice creams. The UES location is small but cute with a bar and stools at the front window so you can sit and enjoy your treat while people watching, my favorite afternoon activity. -
Avaliação de 4 estrelas de Zoe: I have somewhat mixed feelings about the Reservoir, but that's mostly due to lingering memories of all the times my gym class in Middle/Upper School would relocate to its perimeter to either run our brains out or play what can only be described as sadistically competitive games on the horse path. Regardless of those times, the Reservoir is a wonderful resource for the NYC jogger/runner. It is a place within the trees of Central Park where you can exercise on something other than pavement with buildings next to you. Running with trees on one side and water on the other is a much more pleasant experience if I'm turning my face beet red from exertion. Plus, you can keep track of how far you run if you know the circumference of the reservoir (about 1.6 miles). The path is unfortunately really narrow, only two people can fit side by side, but there is the larger horse path (where people do ride horses on occasion) next to it but lower down so you can't see the reservoir water. The best time to go is right as the sun is setting, when the air is slightly cooler and the still reservoir water reflects the changing color of the sky. -

However, considering how many times I've been dragged either to Papaya King or Grey's Papaya (considered by many to be superior), I have to consider them a New York institution. Since my boyfriend happens to be a huge hotdog fan, I was shocked to hear that he had never tried their dogs despite frequent visits to NYC, and consequently escorted him to the bright yellow, standup counter. The prices themselves are pretty resonable (more so than all those vendors throughout the city), and they have quite a few toppings for the hotdogs. You can also choose from among several combos - 2 dogs, 1 drink for $6, 1 dog a drink and their fries for $5, etc. - and if you flash a student ID, that's 25% off your meal! Another reason why they are so popular. The boy tried a hotdog with their sauce and some fries and really enjoyed them, especially the fries which he said were nicely spiced and crispy. I stuck with their fresh squeezed orange juice (the REAL DEAL, we're talking made-to-order freshness), which in my opinion is the best orange juice I have and will ever have in my lifetime. It's so fresh, its addicting. Seriously. One time I actually drank three of them and made my stomach ache for HOURS from all that acid, but it was worth it! -

And so my meal began with me amusedly watching my Mom try and get the waiter to seat us at one of the tables by the window, which were apparently permanently reserved for people who ALWAYS dine there, or send their friends there in their place. Mom was indignant. I was trying not to laugh. We had dinner at Girasole with one of her friends, and it was a fairly pleasant experience. However, our waiter left a little to be desired. It seemed like he was trying to move us through our meal as quickly as possible, coming over to ask if we were ready to order when we hadn't even looked at the menu! The food was good, and they serve you a complimentary little plate of vegetables, cheese and meats, and dips with bread. My mom and her friend had the "Malareddu Al Funghi Selvatici," a traditional sardinian pasta with mushrooms and sage, and the grilled fish of the day which I don't remember. I had their mussels in white wine appetizer and the "Insalata Girasole," which was mixed green with asparagus, tomatoes, green beans, roasted red peppers and parmesan cheese. The food was good, and good lord the pile of mussels I had was far more than I expected from an appetizer, but the experience was rather unmemorable. I personally think that although the traditional Italian cuisine was done well with fresh ingredients, it was extremely overpriced (comes with the neighborhood). You can go and have a good meal, but it isn't anything special. -
Avaliação de 3 estrelas de Zoe: Kyoto Sushi is this hole in the wall joint that I've walked by my entire life and never tried. Then this weekend as my boyfriend was gathering a panoply of cuisines to gorge on while we watched a movie, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to finally try Kyoto's sushi. I walked in off the street into their minute space (very cute, clean and neat, but only a few tables and chairs in front of the 3 seat sushi bar) and barely 5 minutes later I was on my way home with edamame and two rolls, spicy scallop and sweet potato tempura. The staff churns out sushi faster than anyone I've seen - a regular picked up an order and commented on their speed. They even added mango and avocado to the scallop roll for only $0.50 extra! The sushi was pretty decent - the rice was too mushy for my tastes and there was a little too much spicy sauce, but everything else tasted pretty fresh. And the edamame was pretty darn good too. However, I'd say that what Kyoto has going for it is their service - fast, efficient and extremely friendly and unpretentious, unlike the majority of the sushi places on the UES. And nowhere near as expensive! But I must admit, I'm far more likely to order from Sushi Suki, whose rolls are better, prices just as good if not slightly better, and service pretty comparable although I doubt I'll see someone whip up sushi as quickly as Kyoto Sushi. -

And although I was skeptical about Wasabi Lobby given its name (I know, silly, but so is the name!), I've tried it with my mom and siblings twice with pleasant results. The food is quite good, and the sushi is definitely fresh - I ordered one scallop sashimi from the a la carte section and ended up with an entire raw sliced scallop (I thought I'd just get a piece! Too much, but so so so goooooood). Their special rolls are creative and yummy, and the presentation is great but not too special - I've definitely seen the heart-shaped sushi before. They can be a bit stingy with the ingredients in their regular rolls (not so with the specials), but the roll list is reasonably long. My gripe with this place is that the service is severely lacking. We practically got ignored both times by our waiter for the entire meal. We had to signal him over to place our order AND just to get water refills, and it took forever just to get our appetizers, at which point our sushi was ready and we were left with an overcrowded table. Plus, the place itself is so popular that they squeeze in as many people as they can, creating a cramped and very noisy space where you really can't serenely enjoy a meal and the company you're with. At least the sushi is good. -
Avaliação de 3 estrelas de Zoe: I had perhaps higher expectations than I should've had the first time I dined at Lili's. The interior made my hopes rise since it is bright and clean, with a lot of light wood throughout, and its a big space, bigger than you might think since I believe there's even an upstairs. This isn't to say that the food is bad - its actually pretty good, just not amazing or anything. The chinese food is slightly better than most of the fast food type chinese places in the area, and the sushi isn't bad; its just not all that great. Its the type of quality I expect from somewhat cheap asian restaurants that offer both chinese and japanese (ie, sushi) cuisine on their menu. Although, not as cheap as I would like, but that's probably due to its UES location AND proximity to 86th Street. If you want to go to a cheap asian restaurant that offers both chinese and japanese food, take your money over to Chinatown East. Yeah, the space itself isn't as great, but the food and prices are better (and they have a much wider selection of japanese cuisine, including non-sushi items AND a late night AYCE option). However, Lili's is still a decent place to grab a bite near the UES main thoroughfare of 86th. -
Avaliação de 3 estrelas de Zoe: This was my first time having Ethiopian food, and I have to say it was a rather fun experience - although that might also have been due to the fact that the friend I went with LOVES Ethiopian food and gets cutely hyper when describing it. The place itself is very unassuming, and the dark, sparse interior (practically empty, I wonder if anyone really goes here) leaves a bit to be desired. Our waitress was nice, but once she brought our food we had to signal to her if we wanted anything else; she never checked on how our meal was. We ordered the vegetarian sampler platter, which was served with one injera (crepe/pancake-like bread) with several different vegetarian friendly dishes in little piles on top of it, as well as an extra order of shiro, a hummus-like dish. We also got a plate of extra injera. The dishes were warm but not hot, which makes sense since you're eating with your hands! No utensils, just peeling off pieces of injera to scoop up the food. It was fun, a wee bit messy at times, and tasty although I would have preferred that the dishes have more spice to them - they could be a little bland. I don't know how this place stacks up to other Ethiopian places, but I'd love to try this cuisine again to gain a better perspective! -

This location in particular brings back memories since it is DIRECTLY NEXT TO my old school where for 13 years I was a diligent student who like many others frequented Pintailes for a quick bite. I've been to bigger Pintailes locations in the city, where they actually have more seating than a bench outside, but this one is cute and in my neighborhood. VERY tiny, its really only good for takeout, and because of its proximity to several private schools its gets ALOT of traffic during the week around lunch time. Let me say that I'm not a huge fan of pizza in general, and I personally prefer Pintaile's pizza over the traditional New York slice - its whole wheat, thin crust, with a wide range of choices from the standard plain or pepperoni to more gourmet offerings like chicken, pesto, artichokes with mozzarella, plum tomatoes, red peppers and fresh basil or Burmese red curry, sausage, mozzarella, plum tomatoes, parmesan and herbs. I find their pizzas slightly less greasy as well, which is nice, but I still do the weird thing where you sop up the extra oil with napkins. So sue me. Of course, given the selection of gourmet pizzas, as well as the whole wheat crust and quality of ingredients, the price is MUCH higher than the average slice. Also, probably not something guys will want since the thin crust is less filling than the more doughy kind around town. But, Pintaile's is really good pizza if you'd like to have a slightly more gourmet experience of it. -

The place itself is not nice, a very obvious fact when you first approach since the grill is right front and center in the window off of Lexington. It looks greasy, it smells greasy (and overwhelmingly like grilled chicken, of course) - you probably don't want to sit in the cheap, cafeteria-like plastic chairs and table. However, they do grill a rather nice chicken. I order the charcoal broiled chicken occasionally, and its very nicely seasoned (not too much, just a simple herb coating) and usually grilled well creating a juicy, subtly flavored chicken. It comes with their "fresh spiced tomato sauce" which frankly isn't worth it. No taste, no spice, its like watered down pureed tomatoes (but they do offer barbecue sauce and hot sauce). You also get several pieces of lightly grilled pita, but I find them slightly too greasy for my taste, like they were slathered in oil. Haven't tried their other menu choices, but the chicken in my opinion is a great option if you're too lazy to make your own - its certainly cheap enough considering what you get. Just don't expect too much because it certainly isn't gourmet rotisserie. -
Avaliação de 3 estrelas de Zoe: For what is offers, Tasti d Lite is pretty good. It's an easy place to get frozen yogurt since they have so many locations throughout NYC. The prices tend to vary slightly depending upon location (which I find very odd, you would think that they would have a standard price), and it's fairly comparable to all of the new frozen yogurt places that have been springing up. The main difference is in flavors and toppings. Tasti has a HUGE variety of flavors that they rotate on a daily basis (but they always offer chocolate and vanilla). This location is nice because they offer a total of six flavors each day. Sometimes the taste matches the name, sometimes it's slightly off, but there are waaay more options than at other establishments. They also offer more less healthy, dessert topping options like fudge, sprinkles, crumbled Oreos/Butterfinger, and some fresh fruit. They recently started offering a green tea flavor, which is so light in taste that I couldn't taste any green tea. The frozen yogurt consistency is smooth, but it isn't creamy so sometimes I end up not feeling satisfied at the end. Tasti d Lite is a place to go to if you want frozen yogurt in flavors OTHER than the plain/green tea variety of the new places; it doesn't hide the fact that it's offering you something that, in the end, is dessert. -
Avaliação de 1 estrela de Zoe: Isn't Pinkberry going through legal stuff because the product it markets as "real frozen yogurt" is actually a powder that they then mix and churn before serving it up? If that's the case, then perhaps people should rethink their high opinion of Pinkberry. I was recently in LA, and there are so many versions of the new "real frozen yogurt" craze out there, they're sure to trickle over to the East Coast as Pinkberry has. The thing with the real frozen yogurt is that its supposed to taste tart and tangy, not sweet like Tasti-D, and its also supposed to be actual yogurt. The version to look out for, which should have an NYC location opening soon, is Red Mango. It actually IS real yogurt, frozen and blended, with all the healthy toppings to go along with their plain and green tea versions. In the mean time, if you want real frozen yogurt, go to 40 Carrots in Bloomingdales, which has huge portions and healthy topping offerings just like Pinkberry. Only its better, and the real deal.

Avaliação de 1 estrela de Zoe: When I was a child, friends would have their birthday parties here where we would "make our own pizza," which was fun since we didn't pay any attention to things like quality of food or service. This place then transformed into another horrible memory from my Middle and Upper School existence. Uno's was one of those standard dinner hangouts, and unfortunately my friends loved it. I don't know why - the entrees were awful (including the pizzas - you'd think they'd at least be able to get that right since they're technically a pizzeria), and the appetizers and salads were passable. I think the only reason my friends liked going here was because it was just a place to hang out for awhile - it definitely wasn't the food since I'm pretty sure every time we went they all ordered a fucking caesar salad. If I'm going to spend money on food, it's not going to be on something I can make myself, and with fresher ingredients. This location in particular is awful - you are guaranteed to wait for a table, no matter what time of day, and it really isn't worth it. Just go to 2nd Avenue and choose from ANY of the places there. They're far better than Uno's, even the crappiest of them. -

Avaliação de 1 estrela de Zoe: My childhood psychologist's office was around the corner from Three Guys on Madison, so I am quite familiar with this location since it became an occasional meeting place for my appointments with her when I was having a bad day. Yep, all you need to make a kid happy to see their therapist is a large diet coke and some french fries. Now, having grown wiser and more discriminating with age (and successful therapy :D ), I can instantly say that Three Guys just isn't worth it, even for a diner. The prices are far too high for what the menu offers (yes, the neighborhood affects it, but seriously people!), and the quality really isn't that great. Produce is not fresh and dishes are usually not cooked well. And I don't believe we ever had a pleasant waiter there, but then again I can't blame them for having dour expressions. There are far better establishments in the area, and if you're willing to pay that much for poor quality, why not shell out a little more and have a much more pleasant and memorable meal? You just have to walk over a few streets - in any direction!
