Now, when I get a Chinese take away I always tend to go for the same thing, so I can't confess to give an especially broad opinion of the Willow Garden.
What I can say though, is that thier egg fried rice with sweet and sour chicken balls (or BBQ spare ribs) is a pretty safe bet, and get yourself some prawn crackers as well (sort of goes without saying really!)
What this Chinese take away has though that most doesn't is...
wait for it....
An English take away!
That's right, they do Fish and Chips! how about that for a cheeky bonus!?!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rowena R.Bristol, Reino Unido864062413/02/2010
'Chinese & English Meals To Take Away' is it's caption and that's exactly what you will get at Willow Garden. Situated opposite the Tobacco Factory and quite close to Bristol City F.C's Ashton Gate stadium - this is the perfect place to grab some warm food prior to the midweek game or after the weekend's match.
The English side of the menu consists primarily of what you'd expect to find in a Fish & Chip shop, whilst the Chinese part consists of, erm...well....Chinese Food. The owners are always polite and enjoyable to talk to, as also are your fellow customers.
The Willow Garden also makes for a perfect place to grab a battered sausage to fill your stomach before you rush into the Tobacco Factory's theatre just before the doors close.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Utilizador Qype (cosmic…)Bristol, Reino Unido21020/12/2007
This small, family run takeaway is a cut above the rest.
If you, like myself, are enthusiastic about Chinese cuisine then you are in for a treat!
Unlike larger takeaways that struggle to create an identity for themselves, the Willow Garden strays from formula dishes and stamps all the food with its own individuality. The open kitchen is very reassuring and can be quite mesmerizing.
I can highly recommend the mandarin crispy beef.
Hmmm..... divine!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Pippa J.Bristol, Reino Unido1701298/05/2010
The Willow Garden is a fairly standard Chinese takeaway, offering rice and chow main dishes, as well as English fish and chip shop style fare. The food is generally very good, and prices are about average for this sort of meal. On match days it can get very busy, due to being close to Ashton Gate Stadium, and Friday nights are another time when you can expect long queues. Beware of ordering prawn crackers, as they really aren't good, but the fried rice dishes in particular are excellent. Duck fried rice comes highly recommended, but make sure you have some Hoi Sin sauce at home to get the very best flavour. This is a family business, and they are generally very helpful, though some of them don't speak English as well as others and you will need to speak carefully when placing your order. The food is cooked to order, and you can see into the kitchen, so it's quite interesting to stand and watch the gouts of flame from the woks as you watch your food being cooked.

I give this place minus one star. My fried rice tasted like boiled rice with fat and gristle thrown in. The chips were dry and overcooked. The only good part was the curry sause. Its the only thing i liked. I am never going back again. All my food was thrown in the rubbish bin

Found this little gem whilst trying to find some food pre rugby and I must say we were pleasantly surprised. Three of us had fish and chips, and the portions were fresh and good sized. One had a battered sausage and he said it was the best sausage he had ever had. That's saying something, he has had loads of sausages in his time! Fantastic service, I would definitely recommend this to others. They even had Rio to drink.
