I'm extremely excited to hear that this bar has standards and throws out man and discriminate against men who do not belong there. This is the kind of private bar, Leatherman need.
      I'm so excited to visit.
Just notice that the whiny reviews all from Americans from places like West Hollywood....

This bar is one of the few that you can still smoke in. Not sure what the laws are but either way it was smokey and depending on if you smoke or don't mind coming away smelling like smoke might impact your decision to visit. Place has a darkroom of course. Really writing this becuase there seems to be so few yelp reviews in general so also saying place is still around as of thsi writing.

Don't go to this place. It discriminates and refuses entry for no good reason. Many others have said this on here. Boycott it. They have the attitude of fascists.
On entering in jeans, some short guy with bad English who looked not German told me I had to leave. I asked why and he said, "I don't have to give a reason." Many say I am very good looking and I look about 55. It seems this bar discriminates by age.
This is illegal in Holland. It is illegal in Canada. It is illegal in every respectable country.
I asked people at the bar next to me (Hafen) about this and they said it was terrible. They said they were embarrassed for their country.

Even if you get in, as I did last year, the place is boring and has bad attitude. Bad drinks. Very limited beer selection.

It seems foreign owned. It will probably go out of business before long. The people in charge of this bar should be sent to Russia.

There's enough space for a crowd, but the spaces are broken up so that there can be a more intimate vibe in some areas than others, and there's definitely a queer kink and cruising vibe. Sadly the dark room was closed when we visited on a Friday night, which I consider a bad sign. I imagine on a night when it's open, the bar could be a pretty fun venue and I'd consider adjusting my rating after such an experience.

I patronized this bar many many years ago when Berlin was under occupancy status (U.S., British and French) it was a pretty nice place to go. Since the allied forces left the city, it seems like this place is the place to avoid while in the city. Shame on the bar and staff

Count me as another gay guy who was refused entry to this bar. I was given no reason. I was dressed like most of the other guys I saw briefly in the bar, so I don't believe that was the reason.
As others have commented, we as gay men face enough marginalization without having to deal with from "gay bars".

An anchor to this famous gayborhood. Named for famous homo-erotic artist Tom of Finland... Spacious with several bars and chat and cruising areas. Bartenders are fast moving, courteous, and on the ball. Space configuration includes dark rooms on two floors (though basement is currently under construction in August 2017, and a former smoking lounge on ground floor serves double duty for a while). Crowd is diverse but sku's younger, I would say. Monday special 2-for-1 drinks make this an especially popular Monday spot. Dress comfortably in summer. No A/C here.

Judging by the bouncer at the front door, this can't be a leather bar. The bouncer's name, I'm sure is Milquetoast. I don't care what the internet says.

I have been a loyal gay customer of Tom's places ( hotel, apartments and bar) . I am in Berlin for almost 2 weeks, visiting Tom's Bar regularly. Tonight, Thursday 11-9 at midnight I was refused entrance, because it was a private club. The 'gentleman' at the door ( who didn't speak English) could not explain, why he refused me entrance, other than it being a private club.
The rumours about their admission policy on the net, are more than true. It will be my personal quest, to damage the name of this gay 'empire' for discrimination of people on a whim, at times when it suits them.
      DO NOT GO THERE!

Don't understand why we were refused entrance. This place is horrible. This happened on Monday night, August 28, around 11:30 pm. We are a gay couple from Los Angeles who just arrived in Berlin. It was a Monday evening and we decided to check out the gay scenes in Berlin. We opted to walk the evening from Postdamer Station to the gay area. We stopped by at several gay bars along the way and it was pleasant. We came across Tom's Bar and decided to check it out. The doorman told us we couldn't come in, saying that it is a private bar. At first I was confused so I asked him again what he meant by "private" so he explained to me that it is a "private men's bar" not for all men. At this point, my boyfriend was a little ticked of. I was not satisfied by the answer so I went back to the guy and asked him again. I had never experience this kind of refusal so I was just curious. He kept saying its private man's club, so I said, do you mean gay? and I said that I am gay, so he said, "you can come in but your friend can't come in". Then I said with a"laughing" tone (politely), "he is my partner/boyfriend". At this point he insisted not letting him in, while other people were going in. I asked him for a reason, then he said something which I didn't understand, and said "what?". I thought he said, you can't come in, period. I thought he said "period," but my bf said he said "Piss off". It's a good thing i didn't hear the word "piss off". So apparently he said "piss off" about 3 times. Anyway, we walked away because my by this time, my bf was just mad. We really didn't know what the reason is. Was is the dress code? Do we look straight? and not until i said I was gay, then he said i could come in? but then when i said my "friend" is gay and is my bf, he still refused, is it because he was embarrassed that I "corrected" him? WOW, walking back to our hotel, I was flabergasted . Haven't us, gay people suffer enough prejudice and discrimination only to feel outcast by the same group of our own people? The place where we feel comfortable among other gay people? By the way, I am Asian and my bf is as white as one can be. In fact he is German by descent. Whoever this guy is, I hope he learn a few lessons in compassion and good reasoning. I went to the website, there is nothing but just a one page. NO contact, no address no links anywhere. For those who think this is a bar worth going to, I'm glad you didn't experience this horrendous episode but think twice before you go again as you may be next. I don't know. If I were in Berlin longer, I would totally go back and sit down with that person and dig his brain. As a side note, I am not bitter or upset about this. I just want to share my experience with others.
