Bread was hard as a rock. Ambience was that of an Ikea food court.
Entrance was hard to find. Asked for a seat by a window, got something as close to the entrance as possible with no view :( as a solo diner I thought I'd be treated slightly better. Food was good, I went because it was a Michelin green star.
I don't know if I would go back... flavors were definitely "earthier" than I would like. Mushroom steak tastes like dirt, even the dessert with passionfruit and coconut tasted like sand. Good enough to eat, I don't think I'd go back as opposed to trying somewhere new.
Just not worth the price.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 11/11/2023
Never having a proper afternoon before, OXO tower has set the bar very high for any other future high-tea experience! Reservations were a must and the service went above and beyond as a high-end, fine dining experience with a view of all of London from anywhere you sat with floor to ceiling windows inside as well as balcony seating outside. Three tiers with a variety of tasty treats that are surprisingly filing. The second tier consisted of four different finger sandwiches with different fillings and bread were probably my favorite, and the honey dessert was perfect. Make sure to try several different teas since its included in the experience!

Been here 2x and it's just off for some reason.
That said, given this last visit's screwups I had to give it a "Could've been better", don't recommend it and won't be back.
Reasons from latest visit, in order.
Drinks outside (Hot and humid): Didn't come with cocktail napkins. Drinks sweating, condensation, messy, etc. Had to ask for some, eh.
App: Pork belly. Quite nice but had cherries with it. So had to expel the pit from mouth. There's no subtle or appealing way to deal with expelling food from your mouth during a meal...again eh.
Side: Tomato / Onion (see pic). Nice presentation, they left out the onions. When brought to server's attention (he confirmed and was shocked, apologized). To rectify, a manager brought a side plate of plain onions (see pic), apologized and left. Obv should have taken my plate of just tomatoes and came back with the proper dish. Also, the brief interaction between myself and this mgr was slightly odd/off-putting as well but will spare the details.
Dessert: Roast Peach - OK, but peach wasn't that tender at all. Was much too firm. Guest and I both agreed it was not ripe enough.
Overall, except for the views and openness, it's not worth it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 3/11/2023
This was a great first time experience doing afternoon tea. The restaurant was on the top floor and had windows as the walls. It was a buitiful site looking at the city of London in a 360 view. We were originally supposed to have a table outside on their patio, but the weather was looking like it was going to turn bad so they gave us a table inside so are experience wasn't interrupted while we were dining. Thunder had many different teas to choose from. I think I ended up trying five of them, each one had its own flavor profile and really changed my mind on how tea taste. One thing I wish they would have done, is asked us if we knew how to pour tea and some of the tools need to pour it. A was a little confusing for a second till our table figured it out. Each of the snacks they had each were full of flavor and each how and interesting flavor combination that all mixed well. The finger sandwich's were ok, some of the meat in a coupon of them lack flavor and didn't have a pop of flavor that I was originally expecting. Each of the desserts were good in their own right but the chocolate one was hard to eat, it was slightly odd shape so you couldn't get a good bite and just to small to fit a spoon in. The top thing for me at tea time was the scones with the 2 marmalade and jelly. The scone were perfectly done, they were nice and warm, a nice slight moist center. The original marmalade really blew my mind, it has a perfect citrus taste that was sweet which is a perfect topping on the scone. I would come back here again for another tea time to try the new menu once it rotates. This was one of my top experiences while visiting London.

Oxo has an amazing ambiance. The views are incredible (especially at sunset)!
The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. The veal was so tender and melted in your mouth. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
The service was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so kind and made the experience even more enjoyable!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14/11/2021

Lovely view even though we had an inner table. The server came asking for our order as soon as we sat down. We said we needed a few minutes and she came again twice very quickly.
We ordered and got our drinks and food and then we could not find anyone to get us water for a long time. It was very busy but we asked our server for water and he said ok and never returned. Finally we got somebody else's attention and got our water.
The chef made a wonderful, delicious quinoa risotto for me and I had the salad with fruit which was nice. The men had mocktails and shared several appetizers and desserts. The portions were small and it was expensive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Caroline G.Santa Monica, Estados Unidos202421/07/2023

High up in the OXO tower with a view of the river Thames, St Paul's cathedral and the rest of the city skyline. Can't get much better view while dining. The out door seating area is on a grass surface area that feels and looks like a lawn. It's fake, chicken proof. Really quite impeccable. The area is covered, so should be ok even if it rains. The dining room has floor to ceiling windows and there is an open style kitchen.
My oriental chill drink was quite refreshing. It had lychee and lime juice in it. The yellow split pea soup had some chilli cream in it, this was very good. Comes with chilli oil on top, flavoured with coriander and lime. It's really smooth. I think I might try to make this at home.
The shallot miso spelt risotto was so heavy, I almost couldn't finish it. But then I did. It's served with a big cabbage piece in the middle and tahini dressing. Very healthy. My only complaint was food temperature could have been slightly hotter.
The pan fried sea bass was perfect. Comes with a cauliflower purée, potato gnocchi, green cabbage and lemon dill dressing. It's a large piece of fish, good quality, skin burnt to perfection. Well worth the price tag.
The dark chocolate mouse was a nice way of ending the meal. Nice presentation. White chocolate mint ganache and mint crumbles added. I liked that they had a clearly labelled allergen menu. Heat lamps outside helped, but I wish they would hand out some blankets also.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 26/09/2019
I have been wanting to dine here for a long time. After numerous trips to London, I finally made it and had Afternoon Tea. I came here by myself which is not uncommon for me, solo traveler! I rarely wait for others especially if I want to try a place out or travel somewhere. Having Afternoon Tea at OXO was one of those places. Although I would have loved to been here with my 23 year old daughter!
I have been enjoying Afternoon Tea in various countries and US cities for sometime. I've had mediocre ones and spectacular ones. The Afternoon Tea service at OXO is one of those spectacular ones.
The various tea selection was nice which included teas from Harvey Nichols. The various courses of sweets, savories and scones were delicious and plentiful. The variety was wonderful! The offerings were both traditional and modern, so good!
I especially liked starting off with a champagne cocktail when I arrived. I also got a table by the window which offered nice views of the city and the Thames. Everything combined created a lovely experience.
I have now checked off OXO from my list of places to try although this will not be my last time here!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 23/09/2018
Just came here for drinks but wow was I impressed! The view is amazing of the skyline! And it's on the water! Double points for that. They have indoor seating and outside balcony seating available.
My husband just had a beer but I ordered a cocktail called "Beauty and the Beast" and it was pretty and delicious! They serve top shelf liquor, it was so smooth. I could drink many of these!Helpful 41Thanks 0Love this 41Oh no 0
