Nizam Bar & Restaurant

I was visiting East Grinstead and decided to eat there with 8 other friends, the service was so good (our server was so so nice), the food was AMAZING and so affordable, I will definitely go back whenever im visiting and recommend this place to other people!!

Saturday nights are always a good time out one of the reasons is because we all go to Nizam in the High Street. Food is always excelent much better then other palaces in town and the serivce is always great not too fast and not too slow. plus the inside of the restaurnat is great with the exposed beams. Defenetly the best place in town.

Every time im back from uni i always get my gals together and go out to Nizam. Iv been coming hear since i was a kid with my parents and its just as good now as it was then. The food is great their menu has a lot of different dishes that most curry houses don't have. It's even better now as they have some new vegetarian dishes. They can fit a group of about 50 in the back room great for a gals or lads night out and prices are good for large groups as Salim the owner gives discounts to them and your not left waiting around for your food like most other curry houses in the area.

Part of a chain and it shows. Manager was arguing with staff in front of customers. Food mundane. Not a terrific experience. There are much better choices in and around the area.

Food is usually very good here. Service can sometimes lack a little and its not the cheapest place. That said, I have been happy on most visits and will definately be going again next time I need my curry fill in East Grinstead.

Extremely popular around Sussex, I made many visits when I worked in East Grinstead many years. Nizam Indian in East Grinstead is not your average Indian Restaurant, menu is more modern and creative much like Indian Restaurants in London but you still get the old favourites such as CHICKEN TIKKA MASSALA. Its got great ambience people really enjoying their night out, it's probable a little high end prices but located in East Grinstead High Street it's expected with the high Business Rates they pay. Last time I was in Nizam Indian it was with six other we ordered, CHICKEN SHASLIK, KANDHARI MURGH TIKA, CHINGRI JHUL, SABJI GOSTH, Duck DUPIUAZA and GOAN SABJI MASALA. They have many great tasting vegetarian dishes quoted by my vegan friend and the DUPIUZA is slightly different from other restaurants I won't give away the surprise taste but you'll understand as you try. The SHASLIKS are the best I've ever had also the unique KANDHARI MURGH TIKKA has a unique presentation and quality of poultry is very high standards.
The restaurant has five waiters plus two bar maids, another waitress to handle takeaways and overall the governor Salim, who should be really proud of himself he's made a real success of this establishment. If you live in or aground East Grinstead definitely make this your local. I was a regular at Nizam Tandoori in Horsham pre 1997 when I lived on the other side of Crawley even after the rebrand to Indian Tree.

The good - the food was of a reasonable standard and average price


The bad - shabby service (had to ask for the bill 3 times then overcharged, rectified when challenged; we did not see the waiter again after he served the food; owner rude when I explained that I was unhappy with the standards of service). Would not visit again or recommend to friends.

A highly upmarket restaurant not your conventional Indian. My last visit was on a Wednesday night we had a booked for four on arrival the waiter took us to our table in the top part of the restaurant which was packed with people including the back room lucky we booked. I noticed they had launched a new menu which includes very exciting new dishes which I can't wait to try all of, much different from what you find in many similar restaurants around the local area. Throughout the night the service was smart and attentive including the drinks from the bar and waiters have a wealth of knowledge about the menu and explained to us clearly. More importantly the food was amazing as always I recommend the Murg Karchan (excuse my spelling) you can't match it anywhere else. The owner of the restaurant was in cheeking his customers where enjoying their meal and evening.


They do a takeaway service which I use as well they don't deliver however due to the standard of food its worth driving in from Lingfield, also you get 20% off which you wouldn't get if you sat on the sofa waiting for delivery.

Favourite place to go out to eat in EG. Food mostly good and service is always attentive. Please bring back the chicken reshmi kebab though! The only downside is that they don't do deliveries. Most annoying when the fancy for a Nizam hits late when kids are tucked up in bed and i can't go to collect myself.

A good curry with some interesting dishes on the menu. More expensive than other local curryhouses yet the interior is interesting and has a warm feel - a good place to go with friends. Service can be variable.
