This was the perfect way to celebrate a reunion with visitors from out of town. After hearing great things about Le Jeroboam from work friends, my partner booked a table for the four of us. A quick glance at the foie gras and truffle-infused menu was enough to convince me! Though it changes daily, the chalkboard menu still boasted fungi flavors when we dined there last week.

Our table was down the winding staircase in a well-lit section of the cellar. We were between the bathrooms and a larger dining area, but it was so well-insulated that until another couple arrived and sat at the two-person table behind us, we felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Our waiter was personable (every member of the all-male staff was extremely friendly) and bilingual. Unfortunately they didn't write out English versions of the menu, so my boyfriend and I had to translate each item for our guests: no easy feat with fairly uncommon ingredients such as chervil and Iberian black big blood sausage.

We followed our waiter's advice on the wine and ordered a light red Burgundy. Almost tart but pleasantly so, it was the perfect accompaniment to all of our dishes, even the seafood.

I knew instantly what I was going to order: the black truffle and foie gras en croûte, and the grilled octopus with chorizo as a main. While waiting, we were served little bites of buckwheat and comte cheese as an amuse-bouche. Surprising, yummy, and no doubt homemade.

The foie gras was incredible, and I could have ended with that. The octopus was elegantly displayed and chewy enough (but also crispy at the end of its tentacles), but the Basque-style sauce didn't do it for me. Served atop a bed of nutty black rice with slivers of artichoke and dotted with squares of chorizo, the poulpe might have been better with lemon, or in a cold rice salad with olives to give the soft chorizo a kick. I couldn't even finish the last tentacle because it felt boring after the explosion of foie gras and truffle (and, yes, probably also because I used up a roll of bread to soak up that truffle oil and dressing).

Why was this starter so incredible? For one, these guys don't use watered down truffle oil: my portion included cereal-sized nuggets of actual black truffle. And speaking of portions, it was much larger than expected: no teensy, pricy essence of meat and mushroom--this plate could have been a main dish on its own. The biscuit-sized piece of foie gras, a centimeter thick, was enveloped in a billowy, airy pastry and cozied up to morsels of black truffle. There was a creamy truffle moat, and a small green salad topped with strips of red beets. And then, the biggest surprise of all, a perfectly round mound of cep ice cream. Cep. Ice cream. It was sweet, it tasted just like cep, and the flavor was divine.

My table mates were equally impressed with their dishes (veal, scallops, sea bass tartare), but I think we all agreed: the best plate by far was my foie gras delight.

We were too full for dessert (does the cep ice cream count?), even though I'm sure Le Jeroboam would have exceeded expectations here, too.

Excellent restaurant, great food, made with fresh and high quality ingredients. The restaurant is cozy too. If you're looking for French food with a modern twist, this is a place to try for sure ! I went with a friend who enjoys to share, so we tried:
      - the "croustillant de gambas": gambas, sun dried tomatoes and piquillos
      - the " Hamber'goût black Angus", very tasty, with bacon
      - the " Canon d'agneau en croûte d'herbe": lamb dish, very tender with veggies
      - The "Minestrone de mangues à la vanille bourbon": mango cream with bourbon vanilla
      - An home made kouign amann, with vanilla ice cream

Every single dish was delightful !! Service was excellent too, I totally recommend this place if you ever got a chance to visit Paris !

My favorite address in Paris so far.

We had amazing dishes (I especially recommend the peas and pork soup as an appetizer - best thing I've ever eaten in a loooong time, and believe me, I eat a lot). Everything was perfectly cooked and the plates were beautiful.

It is not cheap (around €40 per person for appetizer, main and dessert) but they offer 30% off when booking via LaFourchette (TheFork), which makes them waaaaay better than other restaurants at that price range.

€8 lemon pie - probably the best of your life
      €9 chocolate pie

One of the best French restaurants I've ever been to.
We made a reservation for a group of... 15 people! At first, I kinda didn't know how they were gonna fit us all in that small (but cosy) restaurant. But then, the waiter lead us to the basement, only to let us be amazed by the beautiful room they had for large groups of people. It was really cosy, and the menu was written on a blackboard on the wall.
The food was a delicacy. I had roasted duck, and it was perfectly flavoured and cooked. The dessert was extremely tasty too, though it was really big (Pain perdu flavoured Brioche).
We made that reservation with TheFork.com, so we had a small discount.

It's a place I HIGHLY recommend to all of you guys who wanna enjoy some French Cuisine, cooked in a perfect way.

Wow wow wow! they had the best entree i had in paris - sea bass with morel sauce. The starter with foie gras both looks and tastes good. The service is very good too. I'd love to come back here if possible!

Two years ago, we discovered Le Jeroboam, and we could not believe that they have been able to maintain the quality that made us fall in love with the restaurant on the first visit. We were greeted warmly and the "Carte," as usual, was on chalkboards. After planning our meal, our waiter suggested a Spanish wine: Dominio de Fontana Tempranillo- Cabernet Sauvignon 2012. This bottle was not on the wine list but was a perfect choice for the meal and was ready after just a few minutes of breathing, For appetizers (entrees) we had the Fricassee de Supions (small squid with chorizo sausage) and Boudin Tiede (langoustines served as whole tails and with medallions of pressed langoustine). The main courses (plats) were the Secreto (Iberina pork with gratin potatoes and vegetables) and the Argentinian Entrecôte, perhaps the best beef I have had in France with a side of polenta frites and vegetables. We share dessert, a Mille Feuille Minute, which was light and yet quite ample. Our leisurely mean was almost a three hour adventure, with impeccable service and wonderful pacing. I will be sure to return to Le Jeroboam. For those who care about price, we spent about $120 on dinner including wine and service, and we consider that a tremendous value for the quality of food and service.

This is one of the best places we went to eat in Paris. It was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. They have a fresh daily menu on a blackboard. Not only is the food delicious I was struck by how incredibly friendly everyone was. We went to a few restaurants in Paris that had a lot of hype and staff were somewhat rude. I also don't think this is a 3 euro rated place it wasn't all that expensive for paris prices and it was a really good value. I would totally go back here if I went to Paris again. I order a beef dish the server recommended. The staff was super helpful recommending (and translating).
