Hippopotamus

The food is standard and it feels more like a TGIF or a Yardhouse in the states. You get a decent meal, bread, and some drinks, but nothing special. The feel is high throughput and a little cold. They have better than average quality food, though, so enjoy the time there. I would recommend it for people in a bind.

It's hard to find an unpleasant dining experience in Aix-en-Provence; we had one here, however. The moment we asked to be seated it began; the place was obviously understaffed and it was *plainly* obvious the server/hostess hated working there. There were piles of unbussed, unwashed dishes on a table in the back and the menu seemed to combine the worst of American chain restaurant cookie-cutter portion control with a certain Gallic indifference. My portion looked nothing like the menu. To be fair the food was OK, but just that.

Take a chance and walk in to any of the bistros on Cours Mirabeau; you'll do better.
