Darbey's Traditional Fish & Chips

Poor. Fish was decent enough, but it was a very thin piece of cod, so you weren't getting your money's worth. The mini cod fillet on the menu must be the size of a fish finger! Chips were pretty bad. Managed to eat one third of my portion, but didn't want to chance anymore incase they made me ill.
I did like the fish shaped plates the food came on, and the staff were efficent and polite, but I won't be returning.

A really classy, modern looking chippy/café... but looks aren't everything.

The food and service are a real disappointment.

Had a fish special and scampi meal. The fish was not even enough for a child, so goodness knows what the mini fish is like! Cheap bread and butter and small portions. It might suit "little old ladies" who want a little bit more than a microwave meal.

And do we need to overhear the girls talking about where they went last night or where they're going at the weekend? Certainly we don't need to hear what the staff thought of other customers!

A GREAT ASSET TO COLWYN BAY Ordered the Cod Special, (Cod, fresh lemon, chips, peas bread and butter, pot of tea) £5.95 The cod was the best i've tasted in years, white flakey cod and crispy batter, real chips and mushy peas. Food arrived quickly even though it was very busy. Very clean & hygenic, disabled facilities.

Nicely decorated & clean restaurant. Bad:
Very small portion considering price. Therefore it appears quite expensive. £7 for a lunch meal and I wasn't very satisfied.
Chips & mushy peas were average.
No sauce bottles available, given 2 small sachets (which lasted 5 chips).
Bread and butter with meal wasn't great. Seemed very cheap and really thin.
Open kitchen/fish counter means you hear everything (the fryers & staff chit-chat).

FOOD Very poor compared to some fish n chip shops in the area, small plates to make it look a lot, worst tasteless mushy peas ever had in a chip shop, service average nothing special just young girls mostly chatting and putting make up on in the restaurant.Tea was best thing about the meal deal and was clean and modern looking with plenty of seats mostly all empty, cannot see this place lasting long with these poor standards/food/service when you can get far better for similar price very close by.No plans to return and would not recommend

been in here twice just for a chip take away, tho the price is high there the best chips around for miles, good polite service and nice and cleen in there too, would recommend,
